★ Tips for Choosing the Right Width
★ Tips for Choosing the Right Width
Choosing the correct medicine cabinet width depends on four key factors:
vanity size, wall space, lighting layout, and installation style.
Here’s a practical sizing guide to help you decide.
1. Start with Your Vanity Width
As a general rule, your medicine cabinet should be slightly narrower than your vanity for proper balance and door clearance.
| Vanity Width | Recommended Cabinet Width |
|---|---|
| 30" Vanity | 24–26" |
| 36" Vanity | 28–32" |
| 42" Vanity | 32–36" |
| 48" Vanity | 36–42" |
| 60" (Single Sink) | 48–54" |
| 60" (Double Sink) | Two 20–26" cabinets or one 48-54" cabinet |
| 72" (Double Sink) | Two 28–32" cabinets or one 60–72" cabinet |
QueenFun Pro Tip:
Your cabinet should be at least 1 inch narrower than the vanity to allow the doors to open freely (minimum 90° opening clearance).
2. Plan Around Your Lighting
Lighting placement affects how wide your cabinet can be.
- If installing wall sconces, leave 5–6 inches between the cabinet edge and each sconce.
- If using an overhead light, you can typically choose a slightly wider cabinet.
Proper spacing ensures both functionality and visual balance.
3. Choose the Right Installation Style
Recessed Installation
- Sits inside the wall
- Can accommodate slightly larger widths
- Requires sufficient wall depth and framing
Surface-Mount Installation
- Mounted directly on the wall surface
- Slightly narrower widths often look cleaner
- Ideal for bathrooms without wall cavity space
4. Consider Aesthetics & Symmetry
- A centered cabinet above the sink creates a clean, balanced look.
- For double vanities, two separate cabinets (one over each sink) often look more proportional.
- A single long cabinet works well for a modern, seamless design.
5. Check Vertical Clearance
- Ensure enough space above the faucet and below light fixtures.
- Standard cabinet heights range from 24–30 inches, so confirm your ceiling height and plumbing placement allow comfortable spacing.

Looks good, quality seems good too. Lights are bright amd I really like the night light. Overall happy with the purchase.
Can hardly believe the amazing quality of this item - note that it is UNIQUE because it can be installed EITHER recessed or surface-mount, I haven't found any other like that - the sides are attractive and will look fine if we install it surface. The LED clock function on the top RIGHT (see photo) is likely to be a lifesaver on late mornings, all parts are solid, heavy and high quality. We will need an extra helper to install - due to the quality, it's heavier.
I cant believe how nice this turned out. We had to schedule a contractor to install but well worth the price and the wait. We now have more storage space for toiletries. I 100 percent recommend.
This 36” cabinet transformed our bathroom! It looks sleek and modern, and the storage is amazing. The doors open smoothly and stay aligned. We mounted it as surface mount and it’s very secure. The mirror is bright and makes the room feel bigger. Only slight flaw: a tiny scratch on the side (barely visible), but customer service was great. Would buy again!
Exactly what we needed, good quality and plenty of storage
This mirror cabinet is even better in person. The materials feel durable, the mirror is high-quality, and the storage space is generous. It was easy to install with clear instructions. The only small downside: the hinges are a bit stiff at first, but they loosen up with use. Overall, very happy and would recommend to anyone!
Great purchase! This cabinet is sturdy, looks great in our bathroom, and provides so much hidden storage. The mirror is clear and the door fits perfectly. Minor flaw: the paint on the edge was slightly uneven, but it’s not noticeable. For the price, it’s an excellent value. Would buy again!
This medicine cabinet is beautiful and practical. The lighting and lighting options are perfect. It even has an under cabinet night light option. Additionally it has a clock on the mirror and an anti fog feature. When you open the cabinet the door has a mirror inside as well. Great find!
Bought this 60” mirror cabinet for our master bathroom and couldn’t be happier. It’s well-built, looks expensive, and the storage is unmatched. The mirror is clear and the doors operate smoothly. It arrived very well protected. The only con: it’s quite heavy, so you need strong helpers to install. But once up, it’s perfect. 5 stars!
FAQs
Is there light inside when I open the cabinet?
Is there light inside when I open the cabinet?
Yes, the series features a Motion-Sensing Interior Light. It provides immediate visibility when the door is opened, even if your bathroom lights are off.
Can the internal power outlets handle high-power devices like hair dryers?
Can the internal power outlets handle high-power devices like hair dryers?
The built-in 120V outlets are designed for low-power bathroom electronics (electric toothbrushes, razors, or chargers). We do not recommend using high-wattage hair dryers inside the cabinet as it may overload the internal circuit.
Does the Auralux Core mirror cabinet remember my last light setting?
Does the Auralux Core mirror cabinet remember my last light setting?
Yes! The series is equipped with a Smart Memory Function. Whether you turn it off via the touch sensor or a linked wall switch, it will automatically restore your last brightness and color temperature when turned back on.
How do I set the digital clock on the mirror?
How do I set the digital clock on the mirror?
When the LED light is OFF (standby mode), long-press the Color Temperature button for about 5 seconds until the digits begin to flash. You can then adjust the hours and minutes using the touch sensors.
Can this cabinet be recessed into the wall?
Can this cabinet be recessed into the wall?
Absolutely. The series supports both Surface Mount and Recessed Mount. For a recessed installation, the side mirrors are not needed, resulting in a sleek, flush look with your wall.
